Comprised of 1,248 individual ceramic nails arranged to form a 140cmx70cm field. The exact dimensions of a child’s cot mattress. 1,248 days equates to the 3 years 5 months my wife and I experienced interrupted sleep following the birth of our first child.

The structure is ordered into 24 nails across and 52 nails along, corresponding to the measurement of time through hours and weeks. Individually made using a children’s toy press mould, together they form a single structure. The nails act as a record of endurance, and sacrifice for a loved child.
